Your Security
At Pebel we understand that when you entrust confidential details to
a company such as ourselves, security is paramount. As such we have
worked very hard to ensure that our systems are safe and that any data
passed to us by the consumer is kept absolutely private and can be used
for no other purpose than the transaction agreed upon between us. Below
are some details regarding the security systems that we use.
Protx
Protx is the most high profile online payment service provider in the
UK, and it is their secure system that we have installed to process
all of your online transactions. As it is an absolute necessity that
all transaction data be kept completely secure and confidential at all
times, we have made use of their services because of their reputation
and ultimately their substantial success in this field.
Transactions and Encryption
For a transaction to be processed securely and successfully information
must be passed between our checkout technology and the Protx VSP systems.
Be assured we will never pass this information on to third parties,
and they are unable to examine, use or modify it due to the steps we
take towards security. We ourselves are unable to view your card details
also, and the links used between Protx and the bank are private, secure
and not available to public access. The messages encoding any information
passed are signed using MD5 hashing for the prevention of tampering.
Of course we absolutely never pass our customers’ card information
without encryption and the data recorded during a transaction is encrypted
with 128-bit SSL certificates.
Internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards
as utilised by the US Government are used to secure the data once on
Protx systems. These are ultra modern and tamper proof, and as such
it is near to impossible to extract the encryption keys. Furthermore,
banking authorities and the banks themselves carry out regular audits
to ensure the situation remains just so.
Company access
Information from transactions is primarily visible only to the computer
systems employed by Protx – neither employees from Pebel nor Protx
are able to decrypt the information, as card numbers are never displayed
in full, even on administrative screens. Only the most senior staff
have the ability to find out about personal customer information, and
even then only under extreme circumstances (e.g. Police Fraud Investigations).
